Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

Tina Turner sang a song in the 80s called, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" Well, Tina, Paul says Love has everything to do with it and without Love, we are nothing but a noisy cymbal being smacked out of time and rhythm! It just doesn't make any sense and it standing out alone makng a bunch of noise. But when the cymbal is hit in the rhythmn of the song, it great adds an accent and sounds wonderful! Today's culture is full of people trying to stand out or make it on their own. They want to do their own thing and stand above the rest and will do anything to make it happen without any regard to anyone else. Paul says, "Love is..." and he explains what LOve actually is. Love is a noun in the Greek but it is described by Paul using a bunch of verbs. Verbs are action words so if we are Loving, then people should be able to see it and receive something from ou action.

<itunes:subtitle>Love or unity? What is the reason Paul writes 1 Corinthians 13? </itunes:subtitle>

When people hear 1 Corinthians 13, their mind immediately goes to “love” but is that what Paul is talking about in this chapter? Yes, he mentions it many times and explains what love is, but why is Paul explaining love to the church at Corinth? It is because they are divided, they are enjoying sin instead of fleeing from it, and they are boasting about their spiritual gifts given to them by the Holy Spirit. Did you know the words he uses to describe love are not adjectives? They are verbs meaning love is an action! Love is something we do on a consistent basis because Paul is going to say, “Love never stops!” Are you loving? You may be surprised to find out you aren’t loving at all!

Paul tells the church at Thessalonica, “And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.” The motivating factor for serving Jesus is and should always be “love.” Jesus told his disciples the people would know we belong to him because the love we have for one another. Paul says his love overflows for the church at Thessalonica but also he brags on their love for one another and their love for others in their community...and that is despite of persecution that the outsiders are bringing upon them! Does your love overflow into others’ lives? Can people actually see Jesus in you and your love for him?

I have heard this passage in Ephesians 5 about husbands and wives, marriages, taught for over thirty years and not once, that I can remember, did anyone talk about the context. All I have heard I have heard is these verses used to tell wives on how to submit to her husband and how the husband is to treat his wife by loving her. I don’t believe that’s Paul’s intent in this section of scripture. It’s part of it, but he is telling the married couple to do these things because of a specific reason—unity in the body of Christ. It goes back to chapter 4 when he is talking about unity and unity being the will of God.

In this episode we talk about Predestination and what that exactly means but what is more important than Predestination is what Paul said before he gives us the idea: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. I don’t think we have a clue of what it means to be in Christ and what blessings we have because of Jesus. It is absolutely mind blowing and what is incredible is that God did it even while we continue to reject Him! His love for us is absolutely amazing! We have everything we could possibly need and more in Jesus so why do we continue to reject him? Why would you not want salvation, healing, earthly blessings, and spiritual blessings that are in heavenly places?

At the end of Romans 12, Paul discusses the hard truth that we are to love our enemies and we are to bless them. This idea is not original with Paul because Jesus told his disciples to do the very same thing in Matthew 5:43-44.
