<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Paul says that Jesus was the exact image of the invisible God. We can't see God, which is why many people choose not to believe in Him. They want someone, something they can see. It goes all the way back to the golden calf Aaron made while Moses was hanging out with God on Mount Sinai. When the angel told Mary she was going to become pregnant miraculously, and that the child would be God's Son, he said He will be called "Emmanuel" which means "God with us." Just as Jesus was the image of God, we are to be the image of Jesus in our every day lives!

<description>Jesus has told his followers that he would be betrayed, killed, buried, but that he would be raised back to life on the third day. None of the disciples ever got it despite being told many times! Not even the women and they are much better listeners than men! Verse 1 says Mary Magdalene went and bought spices to bring to the tomb to put on Jesus' body which tells me she was expecting there to be a body in that tomb. As she and two other women were walking tomb, they were discussing who they could get to roll the stone away so they could get inside to the body. To their surprise, the stone had already been rolled back, the body of Jesus was gone, and there was some dude having a conversation with the, telling them Jesus had risen just as he had told them and that he was waiting for them in Galilee. They left the tomb scared for their lives! They didn't understand until later when Jesus showed up and rebuked them for their disbelief. Do you believe in the risen Savior?

<description>Jesus is giving an answer to a questions the disciples asked him but they aren’t getting the answer they were expecting. Jesus takes a small child and uses this child as an illustration on how his followers should be. As he is speaking, he mentions something about angels in heaven watching over the little children. Do we have guardian angels? Listen to find out, but the answer may be in the parable that follows when Jesus talks about the one sheep that wanders away while the ninety-nine hang around while the shepherd goes off to find the one that went astray. Even the strongest follower of Jesus can be enticed by something outside the fold and wander off which is why he gives the model on how to deal with sin; how to deal with another believer who has sinned. Here’s a hint: Don’t ignore them!

<itunes:subtitle>Persecution has hit the inner circle! The apostle James is beheaded and Peter is next unless God intervenes!</itunes:subtitle>

<description>Persecution started in Acts 4 after Peter and John healed the lame man at the gate called Beautiful. They were given a stern talking to by the religious leaders and told not to preach or teach in the name of Jesus any more. From there it escalates until people began to be killed for their faith! In Acts 8 Stephen is stoned to death while Saul is going from house to house dragging men and women to jail. In Acts 12 it continues to escalate but now it is one of the apostles, James! James is beheaded and Peter is put in prison until he can have a trial after Passover is finished but an angel comes and helps him escape! Why did God spare Peter but not James? Why does bad tings happen to good people? We discuss this in this episode of the GRINDIT podcast.
