<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<itunes:subtitle>Hey Timothy, stir up that gift the Holy Spirit gave you when the elders at Ephesus laid their hands on you... </itunes:subtitle>

<description>I was taught spiritual gifts could only be passed to others by the apostles and when the apostles died, so did the spiritual gifts. This is clearly false because Paul tells Timothy to use the spiritual gift that was given him when the elders at the church in Ephesus laid their hands on him! He will tell him again in his second letter to Timothy to fan into flames the spiritual gift given to him when Paul laid his hands on Timothy. This tells me Timothy was not using his spiritual gifts as he should. Why not? What was his problem? Fear...in particular, fear of man. Because Timothy was so young, the older believers, even false teachers, would intimidate him by perhaps challenging his teaching and he would clam up instead of being bold. It is not time to be timid, but bold for Jesus and the truth! God, stir the gifts within us so people will see you working in us!

<itunes:subtitle>Why do we have to ask God for anything if He already knows what we need?</itunes:subtitle>

<description>Be anxious for nothing, but pray about everything and tell God what you need. But doesn’t God already know what we need before we ask? That’s what Jesus said! So why pray? Because we can verbalize what we need, which is admitting, “God, I can’t do this (fill in the blank) on my own and I need you.” When we try to take control of things, we make a huge mess of it and it can cause all kinds of anxiety. We think it must be done yesterday and we have to have it NOW! But God doesn’t work on our time table, He isn’t bound by any time frame, but He does care about our needs and He wants to supply those needs and be glorified in our lives. God creates something from nothing so I’m sure He can provide whatever we need so quit worrying and put your faith in God!

<description>Over the last two years the suicide rate has increased significantly which also means many friends and loved ones suffered broken hearts and are left with many unanswered questions. Young people to older adults have lost hope and made the decision to give up on life. Why? This is probably the biggest question that never gets answered? Feelings of abandonment to anger overtakes the ones left behind as they try to put the pieces of the past together to try and figure out why their friend or loved one took their own life. Anxiety and depression are things that people do not understand and for many they think that the person ought to just get over whatever it is that is bothering them and get on with their life. It's not that easy and for this episode of the GRINDIT Podcast I talk about my personal experience with suicide and some scriptures that help me deal with it on a daily basis. If you are experiencing anxiety and depression and you feel as though you are going to harm yourself, please seek help. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255; call a friend, a family member, etc but please seek help!
