When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! He touches his eyes and the man sees trees; Jesus touches him again and he sees clearly. Why did Jesus do this healing this way? Did he fail the first time? Did he make a mistake? Absolutely not! He is teaching his disciples a lesson. These guys have seen him do many miracles including raising a dead girl back to life and yet they don't get it, they don't understand. It's as if they see trees but Jesus knows that in time, they will get it and they will see clearly which is why he asks them right after this, "Who do you say that I am?" What about you? Do you see trees? Or do you get it? He is about a week away from the cross and shocking the known world at that time, As he is making his way to Jerusalem, he goes into more detail about what is going to transpire when he gets to Jerusalem. You would think the disciples would be upset and asking about it but no, two of them get their mommy involved and want power and honor, but Jesus gives them a dose of humility. As he is leaving Jericho, two blind men cry out to him and he gives them his full attention. They ask him to heal him and, of course, Jesus did and they followed him. In fact, he goes to someone’s house where he will be staying for a bit. The two blind men keep on their journey until they reach the house where he was staying and they burst right on in having no regard to whose house it is or who is inside. They wanted their healing and they knew Jesus was the only one who could give them sight. Why did Jesus ignore the two blind men? It was about the pursuit. Jesus is not a condom. He isn’t something we keep and use it when we need protection, then discard it. He wants a relationship and in any relationship, there is the pursuit, there is the hunt. After talking to all that is in the room, being all rich and powerful Pharisees and other religious leaders, Jesus hones in on the host of the dinner and tells him he should invite the poor, blind, crippled, and the lame; those who cannot repay the host for meeting their needs. Naturally, as we all would be, Ananias is freaked out by what Jesus has commanded him to do; however, he is obedient. Because of his obedience, Saul receives his sight, is baptized into Christ, becomes an instant witness for Jesus, and eventually writes two thirds of the New Testament! Imagine what God could do through you and me if we would put our fear aside and be obedient to His will! Then, He would use the people we witness to in mighty ways as well, just like He did with Saul!
