When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! What is the reason Paul writes 1 Corinthians 13? 33:40 no <p>When people hear 1 Corinthians 13, their mind immediately goes to “love” but is that what Paul is talking about in this chapter? Yes, he mentions it many times and explains what love is, but why is Paul explaining love to the church at Corinth? It is because they are divided, they are enjoying sin instead of fleeing from it, and they are boasting about their spiritual gifts given to them by the Holy Spirit. Did you know the words he uses to describe love are not adjectives? They are verbs meaning love is an action! Love is something we do on a consistent basis because Paul is going to say, “Love never stops!” Are you loving? It was made of three different cultures: Jew, Greek, and Roman. Trying to get Jews and Gentiles to mesh together and be one was very challenging for Paul, especially when he was away from the congregation. One would think when the church came together to take Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, they would be unified, but they were far from it. The rich were far from it as they hoarded the food and got drunk off the wine while the poor people in the church were left completely out! The issue is their heart. What does Paul mean when he says, “You reap what you sow?” Is he saying like these ministries today, “If you sow money into my ministry and make me rich, you will receive a big ole blessing from God later.”? 100% no! That is not what he is saying at all! He is telling the church at Galatia to quit being conceited and selfish, to sow into the lives of others and help pull them out of sin. He is saying we are to have such communion, fellowship with one another that we can share burdens with another so we can pray for one another and walk along side of each other to keep us from falling. One can read Exodus 12 to learn about the Passover, which is where the Lord’s Supper, or communion, came from. A lamb without any imperfections had to be sacrificed and its blood had to be put over the doorposts of the people’s home. When the death angel came along and saw the blood of the sacrificed lamb, he would “Pass Over” that house and whoever was inside the house was saved from death. 1 Corinthians 5:7 says Jesus is our Passover Lamb. It is by the sacrifice he made on the cross, the blood he shed, and the empty tomb that our sins are forgiven and when death comes, we will spend eternity with God…if and only if we are washed in the blood of our Passover Lamb, Jesus.
