Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

Sin is serious business. It comes with great consequences and the one being the worst is separation from God for eternity. Praise God, if we know Jesus, we have an advocate with the Father! Someone like a lawyer who pleads our case before God and says, “They are not guilty because they know me.” But that’s just it...do you KNOW Jesus? No really? Do you KNOW Jesus? Do you have an intimate relationship with him? Or do you continue to practice sin? Paul tells the church at Corinth that this man who is sleeping with his stepmom has to be disfellowshipped and put back into the world where Satan is his god. He does not belong in the body of Christ! It is strong language and we dive in deep in these podcasts!

Paul has made it clear that we have crucified the flesh, we have put it to death, buried the old man in the grave, and have come out a new creation in Jesus; We are filled with his Holy Spirit and have set our eyes on Jesus as we walk in this world. However, we must choose to do so everyday because Paul also makes it clear, even though we are filled with the Spirit, we will still be tempted and those desires still live in us. We have to make the choice to continue to walk with Jesus, to die daily, and to put on Christ like we put on our clothes every day.

<itunes:subtitle>Jesus told his disciples to "remain" in him many times in John 15. Does that not imply another option?</itunes:subtitle>

The word “continue” carries another option with it...don’t continue. How many times has a parent said, “Stop doing (fill in the blank),” but you keep doing it. Then you hear, “If you keep doing that (continue), you’re going to get a spanking (Or a time out)”? Then, since you continued to do the thing they said to quit doing, you get your punishment. The parent was implying “Do not continue doing what you are doing” when they said “If you continue doing that...” You had a choice to make...right? To continue or not continue. Paul tells the church at Colosse they have started strong in the faith, and now they have accepted Jesus, they must continue to follow him which implies you have a choice: continue to follow Jesus or don’t continue to follow Jesus. Jesus said the same thing to his disciples in John 15, “Remain in me” which implies there is another option, “Don’t remain in me...” Where are you? Are you continuing to follow Jesus?

When we are traveling to a certain destination, we grab our phone, pull up the Maps app, punch in the address to our destination, and take off in the direction the voice tells us to go; We can even see a picture of a map with a blue line that shows us our future moves. What happens when we don’t follow the directions the app is telling us? It freaks out and starts telling you commands on how to get back on track to reach your destination. Suppose you get a phone call and have to terminate your destination to go to a different one? That means you did not get to your destination! Paul says God has given us the coordinates to be able to reach Him in heaven, and many have chosen to punch those coordinates in and are traveling in that direction, but Paul says we must continue...
