That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! One thing we understand from what he says is these people are playing favorites. Someone shared the gospel with them and they were baptized by that certain person. Paul even shares some of their names! However, Paul tells them they are focused on the wrong person and their division isn’t necessary. They are to be focusing on Jessus, the one who died on the cross and saved them from their sins. He touches his eyes and the man sees trees; Jesus touches him again and he sees clearly. Why did Jesus do this healing this way? Did he fail the first time? Did he make a mistake? Absolutely not! He is teaching his disciples a lesson. These guys have seen him do many miracles including raising a dead girl back to life and yet they don't get it, they don't understand. It's as if they see trees but Jesus knows that in time, they will get it and they will see clearly which is why he asks them right after this, "Who do you say that I am?" What about you? Do you see trees? Or do you get it? The closer we are to God, the more confident we become in Him and He uses us for his glory. But we must be willing to allow Him to use us! Paul was consistently being used by God and yet he would be careful to give God all the glory and boast about how Jesus was working through him. This should be our aim, for Jesus to use us and that our lives would reflect him on a daily basis. By faith they knew His promises were a reality and they had evidence, even though they couldn’t see it with their eyes. He starts off chapter 12 with a sports analogy when he compares our walk with God to a race and like a coach he gives instructions on how to run this race. Those instructions are, “Look to Jesus, our champion and endure to the end.” If you ever played sports, you wanted to win a championship, that was the goal.
