<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>2 Timothy 3 is basically Paul warning Timothy to stay away from teachers who don’t teach truth. Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to correct false teachers who have come in wreaking havoc in the church there. They have taught doctrines that sound truthful but when someone falls for it, they realize they have been deceived and they are left picking up the pieces from the destruction. Paul tells Timothy the word of God, (he is referring to the Old Testament) is God breathed and will teach people the truth and how to live a life pleasing to God. Paul tells Timothy he must remain faithful to what he has been taught. That’s some great advice for us today!

<description>We are introduced to a slave owner named Philemon and we have this tiny letter because one of his rebellious slaves, Onesimus, ran away and just happened to run into Paul. Paul shares the gospel with the guy while in prison and Jesus changes his life! He helps Paul spread the gospel there in Rome but Paul sends him back to Philemon with this letter. In this letter Paul describes Philemon and his family: strong faith, love Jesus, love people, kind, and very generous. Philemon’s name means friendly and his wife’s name mean fruitful as in complimentary. Together, they are a great couple who loves Jesus and are faithful servants in the kingdom of God! What do people say about me? How do people describe you when they are talking about you to others? Do you look like, sound like Jesus?

<description>To show the Jewish Christians whose faith is fading because of persecution that they can trust God, the author uses somebody they would be very familiar with and would respect greatly—Abraham. He tells his readers that God gave many promises to Abraham and He made an oath to Himself to keep those promises. Abraham, by faith, was obedient and God kept His promises to Abraham, therefore, they can trust that God will keep His promises to them as well as us! He tells them we have a great hope and that hope is a home with Jesus in heaven when we finish the race here on earth. And since Jesus led the way, this hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls…So anchor down!

<description>Moses was chosen by God to lead the Hebrew people out of Egyptian bondage and into a land God had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Even though Moses was faithful and did lead the people out, Moses had some flaws. He doubted God and tried to persuade God out of choosing him at first. Then his biggest flaw was not speaking to the rock to get water but instead, out of anger, he struck the rock twice! Because he disobeyed God, Moses only got to see the promised land and didn’t enter it. The author’s point is Jesus is better than Moses because he was 100% faithful to God and never had a single flaw! And since Jesus is greater, we can put our faith and trust in Him…

<description>Paul has started his third missionary journey and will be leaving Philippi for Troas where he hangs out with some local believers to encourage them as he knows his time is short and they wouldn’t see him again. Luke tells us the names of seven men that was traveling with Paul at the time but soon they would be nowhere around. In his second letter to Timothy, Paul says everyone has deserted him and that only Luke is with him. As the old saying goes, “When hard times come around you find out who your real friends are.” Paul, as many people as he has helped and brought to Jesus, is alone as he faces death. His “friends” have deserted him when he needed them most. The same thing happened to Jesus when he was about to be crucified. His disciples all fled the scene; They didn’t want no part of that! Lesson: Be careful who you put your trust in. People will fail you but God never will.

<itunes:subtitle>In John 15 Jesus was talking with his disciples and he knew they were freaking out because he had told them he was leaving them and they couldn't come with him. Almost ten times he uses the word "remain" as he encourages them to keep their faith regardless of what happens in the coming days. He starts off John 16 by telling them not to "abandon" their faith and he tells them some things they will go through because they belong to him which includes persecution and death! Even though we may not be persecuted in the United States for our faith, we do experience life challenges and the goal of the GRINDIT Podcast is to encourage people to "remain" in Christ, to keep the faith, and to keep grinding! We would love to pray for you. Send your prayer requests to grinditpodcats@gmail.com or text them to 865-233-6825. God bless you in your walk with Christ...

<itunes:subtitle>Jesus commands us to produce and the key to producing fruit is to "remain" in Jesus. He promises to "remain" in us if we "remain" in him. When he remains in us through the Holy Spirit we will produce fruit naturally because we are connected to the vine and we are healthy. However, we have a choice to remain or leave but if we choose to leave God, where else are we going to go? And the consequences of leaving God would be brutal! "Remain" in Jesus, produce fruit, and share Jesus with others! Even though hard times come, they don't last and eternity with Jesus will be worth it all!</itunes:subtitle>
