<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Paul says these false teachers have seared their conscience with a hot iron. This practice goes way back to the Egyptians who would take something, stick it in a fire, get it super-hot, then stick that hot object to a wound which would seal it up, kill infection, and it would heal faster. It is the same idea today of branding an animal. These false teachers have sealed themselves from the truth of God and are teaching false doctrine that Paul says comes from demons and they are leading people astray from Jesus! He sends Timothy in the heat of the battle and tells him to cling to his faith and keep his conscience clear!

<itunes:subtitle>Paul is reminding the church at Galatia why they can trust him and his word...it was given to him by Jesus himself.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>Paul is rehearsing his story to the Galatians because he is proving to them that they can trust him. Why? Because he has been filled with the same Holy Spirit the apostles have and he has even had meetings with those apostles and they gave him their approval. He calls the apostles “pillars” which in the Greek means “Pillars of fire” and Paul says, “These pillars of fire accepted me and Barnabas as co-workers; therefore, I am a pillar of fire too! He even tells them in detail about a trip he took to Jerusalem to tell the apostles the message he was preaching to the Gentiles and Paul reassures the Galatians that they were all in unity. Again showing the church that they can trust what he is saying, but even greater than the apostles, Paul said he was directed by God Himself to go to Jerusalem.

<description>"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Wise words spoken by Thumper on the Bambi movie. Our tongue is so small, compared to the rest our body, it is tiny but oh how powerful it is! James says it's a fire that can spread like a wild fire and set a whole field on fire. Once words have been spoken, they are out there and can't be put back into our mouths. What are we speaking? James says we bless God and curse our fellow brothers and sisters with the same mouth! Listen quickly but be slow to speak. Think before you speak. Be positive, speak blessings, speak life, speak Jesus...

<description>Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me...this is one of the biggest lies we are ever told as a child because words DO hurt! In fact, they can hurt for a very long time! The tongue is such a small part of our body but it sure is powerful! Once words come out of our mouth, they can’t go back in! James compares our tongue with a fire and how powerful that fire is, how it can set a whole forest on fire! He says we curse people with the same mouth we bless the Lord with, and this shouldn’t be so! And what is really bad is...James is writing to those who follow Jesus and are filled with the Holy Spirit! Do our words tear down or build up? Do they speak life or death?

<description>Peter had denied Jesus three times before he died on a cross. After the resurrection he sits at a fire with Jesus watching the fish cook and Jesus asks him three times, “Do you love me?” In the English language we miss what Jesus is really asking Peter. Jesus is trying to get Peter to realize that he will have to love him unconditionally to make it through the days ahead when persecution starts. All Peter wanted to do was focus on another disciple and Jesus tells Peter, “You don’t worry about him and follow me.” Far too often we want to look at other people when we should be looking at ourselves and focusing on what we can do for the kingdom. We need to be obedient…
