When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! One thing we understand from what he says is these people are playing favorites. Someone shared the gospel with them and they were baptized by that certain person. Paul even shares some of their names! However, Paul tells them they are focused on the wrong person and their division isn’t necessary. They are to be focusing on Jessus, the one who died on the cross and saved them from their sins. It was made up of both Jews and Gentiles and stood strong against false teachers. Paul had a great relationship with this church and we can see their love for Paul in Acts 20 as he is on his way to Jerusalem but takes some time to meet with the elders from that church in Miletus. Jesus himself had many great things to say about this awesome church but he also had a major issue with it. Despite all of the encouragement from Paul and Jesus, this loving church was losing their first love—Jesus! They had become so focused on doctrine and fighting against false teachers that they forgot the very one who gave them the doctrine and their salvation to begin with! It then becomes clear, that we should be following Jesus, because if we are following him, then we will lead people to him and not away from him? So, with that in mind, where is your focus? Take assessment of your life and make sure you are on track, that you haven’t veered to the right or the left! As the saying goes, “Check yourself, before you wreck yourself”! 47:49 no “Temptations will always come” That’s what Jesus says to start Luke 17 when talking to his disciples. What is temptation and where did is come from? Our goal is to keep our eyes on Jesus and live a life that is pleasing to God. We want to get to heaven when we pass from this temporary life we live into our eternal life. There is someone that will do anything he can to distract us from our goal, he throws things in our path to try and get our attention so our focus will get off of God, and onto something else because if we lose focus, he can work his game and Satan, which means “opposition”, is good at his game! We see it in the Garden of Eden when he got man to lose focus and sin, he got Peter get his focus on the goal when he denied he even knew Jesus, and if we aren’t careful, he will get our attention and we too, will lose focus!
