When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! We set out on a quest to become a hero, to win that battle! We set goals, we discipline ourselves and work hard to conquer them. Unfortunately, too many times we get so caught up in the quest and forget about the people around us. In fact, far too often, we use them to get a step higher on the ladder or to get us closer to the goal! Paul calls it being conceited, selfish, and the Greek word he uses says it is “empty glory.” No matter how much success we have, if we don’t have Jesus we have nothing. It's all empty! So big shot, how did you get where you are? Following God as you let Him lead? Or did you cheat your way there? What happens when we don’t follow the directions the app is telling us? It freaks out and starts telling you commands on how to get back on track to reach your destination. Suppose you get a phone call and have to terminate your destination to go to a different one? That means you did not get to your destination! Jesus goes on to say the road, and the gate to heaven, is narrow but the road, and the gate to destruction, is wide. He is the narrow gate, he is the only way to heaven and how did he treat people? With grace, mercy, compassion, and he was longsuffering. He displayed for us the way we should treat people, especially our enemies, those who do not treat us very well. Which road are you on? The prophecy is interesting because it says the Gentiles, who lived in darkness, saw a great light. Jesus died for both Jews and Gentiles, and we are both invited to be as part of his kingdom. As Jesus goes around Galilee preaching about the kingdom, he meets some brothers who were commercial fishermen. He tells them to leave everything behind and follow him. Without hesitation they give up everything they know!
