When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! Peter talks about consuming the milk of God, even craving it, as we are being built into God’s temple, but Paul tells the church at Corinth they should be off of milk by now and eating solid food. He is talking about wisdom—the world’s wisdom, which is what the church at Corinth was drinking from, verses God’s wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit...whom, by the way, lives inside them! While he is in the home of a Pharisee, a woman comes in and pours oil on his body and some of the disciples are indignant. They couldn't believe this woman had wasted so much money on this oil and the should have spent the money on the poor. Yet, before the night is over, one of them will betray Jesus in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. The time has come... He says the stronger believers need to show some grace to the weaker believers and vice versa...Do not argue he says because the goal is unity, to be in harmony, and to honor the Lord in everything we eat, drink, or do. Then he gives them a stern warning about turning away from God. These Jewish Christians were being persecuted to some degree and their faith was fading, they were going back to Judaism and the author warns them if they do this, if they leave Jesus, there is no coming back to repentance. He then gives an example of some fields who received rain. All the fields received the rain but only some of the fields produced crops and received God’s blessings. The ones that that received the rain and didn’t produce crops became overwhelmed with thorns and thistles and had to be burned by the farmer because it was useless. Because he knew his suffering would soon be over and he would be back with his Father where he belongs—at the father’s right hand making intercession for us.
