When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! It was very severe in Jerusalem and the once rich and blessed church that started it all in Acts 2, finds itself struggling with people starving. They can’t grow food in the drought, Rome is struggling to provide, supply and demand is making everything more expensive, their money is drying up, and not even the might, power packed Holy Ghost filled, tongue talking apostles can’t provide for the people! They are having to walk through it and it is very difficult. God uses different means to supply for them, including this collection form the Gentile churches that Paul is collecting. But toward the end of the letter, Paul mentions two people, Zenas the lawyer and Apollos. He says they are basically traveling missionaries and they have needs that the church in Crete needs to meet by giving them what they need and be generous about it. He says by doing so, they will learn to “do good by meeting the urgent needs of others.” One way we can show Jesus to people is to be generous givers, like Jesus. He gives them two “Don’t do’s” and three “When you’s”. These are very important because he had just told them that if their righteousness does not exceed that of the Pharisees, they cannot enter into heaven so he uses what they do as an example of what not to do if you are his disciple. He covers, doing good deeds, giving, praying, fasting, and storing treasure.
