<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Every child dreams of becoming someone, something great, especially boys. We have a drive to hunt and conquer, to rescue the damsel in distress! We set out on a quest to become a hero, to win that battle! We set goals, we discipline ourselves and work hard to conquer them. Unfortunately, too many times we get so caught up in the quest and forget about the people around us. In fact, far too often, we use them to get a step higher on the ladder or to get us closer to the goal! Paul calls it being conceited, selfish, and the Greek word he uses says it is “empty glory.” No matter how much success we have, if we don’t have Jesus we have nothing. It's all empty! So big shot, how did you get where you are? Following God as you let Him lead? Or did you cheat your way there? Did you commit a lot of sin to get you where you're at?

<itunes:subtitle>People want to be seen and they'll do anything to be seen. Paul says, "We are hidden in Christ" and we will be revealed when Jesus returns.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>People today want to be seen and they’ll do anything to be seen. They’ll sleep with whoever they need to, lie, cheat their way to the top, deceive and walk all over anybody to achieve their goal. They want to go viral, be known, because it’s all about them. Paul says we are hidden in Christ and will be revealed when Jesus comes back. But again, who wants to be hidden? We want to be seen! When we come to Christ, our sins are forgiven, our old, sinful nature is put to death and buried, however, Paul says there is sin that still lurks within us and we must continue to follow Jesus and crucify these desires. He lists sins of the flesh that we must continually put away and he reminds us that Christ is coming back and when he does, he is coming with a vengeance! Therefore, living for Jesus has to be the most important goal in our life, to become like him must be the goal. Anything else is idolatry, greed, and sin.

<description>Do you have a lot of trophies sitting around? Do you bask in all your accomplishments over the years? Do you tell the stories when your friends come over of how you got those trophies? Paul gives his resume of how he accomplished a lot of stuff as a Jew, how he was very zealous for God and kept the law faultlessly, yet without Jesus they were nothing but trash. The word literally means “Thrown out to the dogs.” He says, “Anything I have accomplished outside of Jesus is worthless, it’s garbage and needs to be thrown out. Think of all the time and effort put into your accomplishments. What if we put the same effort in our relationship with Jesus? Wow! How powerful the church would be!
