When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! While there, people get wind of what has taken place at the synagogue and they bring people who are sick and demon possessed to Peter’s house so they can be healed by Jesus. As the crowd gathers around the house, watching through the windows and the doors, a leper walks in and wants to be healed. What will Jesus do? This leper is not supposed to be around people at all; he should be in quarantine! But he walks up to Jesus and asks to be healed…Mark says Jesus was moved by compassion and he did the unthinkable…he reached out and touched the leper! Are we moved by compassion? There are so many people the need Jesus. He is about a week away from the cross and shocking the known world at that time, As he is making his way to Jerusalem, he goes into more detail about what is going to transpire when he gets to Jerusalem. You would think the disciples would be upset and asking about it but no, two of them get their mommy involved and want power and honor, but Jesus gives them a dose of humility. As he is leaving Jericho, two blind men cry out to him and he gives them his full attention. They ask him to heal him and, of course, Jesus did and they followed him. The lesson, be obedient and the rest will come. 46:08 no On the way to Jerusalem to die for the sins of man, Jesus goes in a village on the border of Galilee and Samaria. As he passes through he hears some people yelling at him and asking him to have mercy on them. It was ten lepers and they wanted to be healed. They knew Jesus was a miracle worker and that he is their hope so they cry out to him. He doesn’t have a three week long bible study nor does he tell them, “OK, you’re healed.” He simply tells them, “Go show yourself to the priest,” which is what a person with leprosy had to do when the leprosy was gone so they could be pronounced “Clean” and could reenter society again. They didn’t receive their healing until after they started walking and the sad part of the story is only one came back to say “Thank You” and he was a Samaritan! It’s easy for us to run to God when times are hard, but don’t forget Him when your blessing comes and you’re walking on the mountain top! Can people tell you have been with Jesus? 31:46 no Luke starts off chapter 7 by introducing his readers to a very powerful man that doesn’t fit the profile of someone who would put their trust in Jesus but that is exactly what happens. Up until this point, the people that have been coming to Jesus have been Jews, poor Jews who were sick, had deformities, or demons. They have heard of his miraculous power and they have come from miles around to find hope. This centurion is a Roman, a Gentile, in fact, he is an officer in the Roman army. He isn’t poor, instead he is rich and powerful. He doesn’t fit the mold of the typical Jesus follower at that time yet he was more of an example of a Jesus follower than the Pharisees and the religious leaders of his day. In fact, after Jesus dealt with this Roman centurion, he said he had never seen faith like this man has in all of Israel! And this man is a Gentile! And this Gentile who had a lot of power also had a lot of humility and compassion because he had a synagogue built for the Jews in his community and paid the bill and he cared for his Jewish slave that was on his death bed. When he heard about Jesus he immediately sent for him to come heal his slave which also shows his faith. What do your friends, your family, your coworkers say about you? Saul, the persecutor of Jesus followers, has been sent to a man's house where he is to stay until a man named Ananias comes to visit him. Meanwhile, Jesus is having a conversation with Ananias and telling him he is to go lay hands on Saul. Naturally, as we all would be, Ananias is freaked out by what Jesus has commanded him to do; however, he is obedient. Because of his obedience, Saul receives his sight, is baptized into Christ, becomes an instant witness for Jesus, and eventually writes two thirds of the New Testament! Imagine what God could do through you and me if we would put our fear aside and be obedient to His will! Then, He would use the people we witness to in mighty ways as well, just like He did with Saul!
