When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him. en-us episodic We at GRINDIT want to encourage people to keep going, to keep grinding, when life gets hard. Quitting is not an option! If any of you...then...and he gives a solution to each one. He had just said we should be patient waiting for the Lord’s return and now he says while we wait, act like this. One thing James mentions specifically is the sick should call for the elders of the church to pray for them and they will be healed by their prayer in faith because the Lord will heal them! We either believe that or we don’t and the way most churches operate today, we don’t! God hasn’t changed at all so what’s the problem? We are. We want to be in control and as long as we are in control, God cannot work. He touches his eyes and the man sees trees; Jesus touches him again and he sees clearly. Why did Jesus do this healing this way? Did he fail the first time? Did he make a mistake? Absolutely not! He is teaching his disciples a lesson. These guys have seen him do many miracles including raising a dead girl back to life and yet they don't get it, they don't understand. It's as if they see trees but Jesus knows that in time, they will get it and they will see clearly which is why he asks them right after this, "Who do you say that I am?" What about you? Do you see trees? Or do you get it? A man is brought by his friends to the house hoping they could get him to Jesus so he would be healed. He has been laying on this mat, unable to move for many years. He would not leave that house the same way he came! Jesus heals the man and it blew the people’s minds, including the religious teachers of the law. Jesus takes us right where we are in life and changes our situation immediately. This leper should have been in quarantine, living in a leper colony but he does something bold...he went against God's laws in order to get to Jesus. He pops out of nowhere, kneels before Jesus stopping him in his tracks, and calls him Lord. I can't help but wonder if there were people in the crowd freaking out over the leper being near them and talking with Jesus but the leper didn't care; he knew Jesus was his only option for a normal life, Jesus was his hope, and he did what he had to in order to get to Jesus. What about you? When are you going to realize Jesus is your only hope? Sure, you may be able to do many things on your own, but you can't save yourself! As he passes through he hears some people yelling at him and asking him to have mercy on them. It was ten lepers and they wanted to be healed. They knew Jesus was a miracle worker and that he is their hope so they cry out to him. He doesn’t have a three week long bible study nor does he tell them, “OK, you’re healed.” He simply tells them, “Go show yourself to the priest,” which is what a person with leprosy had to do when the leprosy was gone so they could be pronounced “Clean” and could reenter society again. They didn’t receive their healing until after they started walking and the sad part of the story is only one came back to say “Thank You” and he was a Samaritan! It’s easy for us to run to God when times are hard, but don’t forget Him when your blessing comes and you’re walking on the mountain top!
