That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! Paul talks about a different trap that people get caught in and that trap is set by Satan himself. He says these people are being held captive by Satan and doing whatever he desires. The sad thing is, they don’t even realized it. They think they are living life to the fullest and doing whatever they want, not caring what God thinks about it. And the answer to that question is found in Paul’s letter to them, “The Law,” and in particular, they have listened to false teachers and have been convinced they, as Gentiles, need to be circumcised and follow the law. Paul makes it clear, if they follow the law, Christ is no effect to them, and they have been cut off from Christ. If you’re cut off from something, you have been removed and there is a separation. It goes back to the Garden of Eden, when man chose to sin, they were separated from God, and man has tried to reconcile that relationship ever since but everything we do is not good enough. He was beheaded because he had confronted the sin of Herod Antipas and his wife, who was married to his brother. They didn’t want to hear about their sin so she came up with a plan get John killed. She threw a birthday party for her husband, invited a bunch of buddies over, probably had some alcohol flowing freely, and then, when the time was right, she sent her daughter in the party to dance provocatively before her stepdad. She was so impressive that Herod promised her anything she wanted and her mom had told her she wanted John’s head brought to her on a silver platter. If momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Momma got what she wanted and the kingdom lost a great man who paved the way for Jesus. It is not an option and the reason why is he has forgiven us of our sin. 56:23 no Jesus has told his disciples that people are going to sin. The thing about sin is that sin doesn’t just affect the person who sinned, it affects a multitude of people. Depending on the sin, it causes a lot of deep hurt, pain, anguish, anxiety, and depression. If you have been hurt by someone deeply, then you know exactly what I am talking about! And perhaps that person is continuing to pour gas on the fire and continues to sin against you. Jesus tells his disciples, and us, we have to forgive. It is not an option and the reason why is he has forgiven us of our sin. I explain this is detail in this podcast. I didn’t say it is easy, but Jesus did say it is necessary if we want to be forgiven. What is forgiveness? Does it mean we forget what they did? Absolutely not! Does God forget what we did? Nope! He knows every single detail about our past and our future. Jesus said God knows every sparrow that falls to the earth so no, He doesn’t forget our sins. What God does, however, is forgive our sins meaning He doesn’t hold us accountable for the sin we have committed.
