<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>James just tells us like it is in his letter and he doesn’t waste any time getting started! He is writing to the Jewish Christians who have been scattered because of persecution. He tells them to consider what they are going through and let it build their endurance. In fact, the word “consider” actually means to be a leader during the hard times. We, as followers of Jesus, should be full of joy when hard times come and people should be able to follow our example during the hard times in life but isn’t that difficult?!?! Can people follow you, not when things are going great, but when things are chaotic and seem to be out of control? Can people still see Jesus in us when our lives seem to be falling apart? If not, why not because that is exactly what James is telling those persecuted Christians in his letter! Lead by example, even in the hard times.

<description>Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem to die. He has explained to his disciples this day was coming. He is about a week away from the cross and shocking the known world at that time, As he is making his way to Jerusalem, he goes into more detail about what is going to transpire when he gets to Jerusalem. You would think the disciples would be upset and asking about it but no, two of them get their mommy involved and want power and honor, but Jesus gives them a dose of humility. As he is leaving Jericho, two blind men cry out to him and he gives them his full attention. They ask him to heal him and, of course, Jesus did and they followed him. I don't they are going to be excited about what t hey can now see!

<description>Persecution started in Acts 4 after Peter and John healed the lame man at the gate called Beautiful. They were given a stern talking to by the religious leaders and told not to preach or teach in the name of Jesus any more. From there it escalates until people began to be killed for their faith! In Acts 8 Stephen is stoned to death while Saul is going from house to house dragging men and women to jail. In Acts 12 it continues to escalate but now it is one of the apostles, James! James is beheaded and Peter is put in prison until he can have a trial after Passover is finished but an angel comes and helps him escape! Why did God spare Peter but not James? Why does bad tings happen to good people? We discuss this in this episode of the GRINDIT podcast.
