When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! This is what we see happening in Matthew 12 between the Pharisees and Jesus. The Pharisees have the fastest draw but Jesus wins the fight…every time! Evidently the Pharisees have some spies on Jesus and his disciples because they see them picking grain in a field and they watch them eat it right there in the field. They quickly pounce on the opportunity to condemn them and Jesus sets them straight by using an example they’d be very familiar with and it comes from a man they very much respected…King David. Then Jesus goes on their turf, the synagogue, and heals a man with a deformed hand and it sends them over the edge! They have no idea what he is saying but we do because we are looking back and can see the whole picture. Jesus said he is the Light of the world in John 8:12. These 12 men have chosen to leave everything behind to follow Jesus. Over the next three years he will be pouring himself into these men, teaching them about God and how to treat people so they would be able to take over when he leaves. The only way they, or we, can be light is to have Jesus inside us through the power of the Holy Spirit. Without Jesus, we are walking in darkness no matter how awesome our life may be!
