That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him. en-us episodic We at GRINDIT want to encourage people to keep going, to keep grinding, when life gets hard. Quitting is not an option! Jesus comes down the mountain and hears some arguing and wants to know what is going on. After hearing the explanation, he says, “You faithless generation, how long do I have to put up with you?” Who is he talking to? The dad? The kid? The religious leaders? The crowd? Or his disciples? So many times, when we pray for someone to be healed and nothing happens, we blame the recipient and say something like, “They don’t have enough faith.” But is this true? Is the recipient the one to blame? The answer may surprise you because Jesus is actually blaming the disciples here, the givers! They are asked by Jesus to feed another huge crowd, mostly Gentiles, and they freak out. They had forgotten what Jesus was capable of doing. After this event, some Pharisees show up and want Jesus to perform a miracle but he refused to do so and as he is traveling in a boat with his disciples he tells them, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees." They think he is scolding them for not having any bread. As they blame one another for not bringing any bread, Jesus does scold them for having eyes to see and ears to hear yet they don't understand. There are so many people the need Jesus. The fact is there is something greater than miracles…the Miracle Worker! Jesus! Jesus is who we should be focused on and not the miracles. Jesus gave the disciples the power and authority to work miracles and cast out demons but the reason he did so was to enable them to go into villages and tell the people about the Kingdom of God and as they told the message, they could back it up with evidence by working a miracle. When they got to the shore there was a naked man who came running up to the boat shrieking and making weird noises because he was full of demons. Jesus cast the demons out him into a herd of pigs and the shepherds take off running to town and tell the people what happened. The crowd comes out to see the naked man who is now fully clothed and he is sitting at the feet of Jesus completely sane. They freak out and ask Jesus to leave town! Then there is Jairus who’s 12 year old daughter is almost dead. He begs Jesus to come to his house and heal her but as they are on their way, a woman who has been bleeding for 12 years comes up from behind Jesus and touches the hem of is garment and was healed. Jesus has a conversation with the woman and as he is talking, some of Jairus’ friends show up and tell him that his daughter is dead. Jesus tells Jairus something that we all need to hear today, “Don’t be afraid.” In fact, it is a theme throughout these examples.
