When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! What is the reason Paul writes 1 Corinthians 13? 33:40 no <p>When people hear 1 Corinthians 13, their mind immediately goes to “love” but is that what Paul is talking about in this chapter? Yes, he mentions it many times and explains what love is, but why is Paul explaining love to the church at Corinth? It is because they are divided, they are enjoying sin instead of fleeing from it, and they are boasting about their spiritual gifts given to them by the Holy Spirit. Did you know the words he uses to describe love are not adjectives? They are verbs meaning love is an action! Love is something we do on a consistent basis because Paul is going to say, “Love never stops!” Are you loving? He says we are one body that serves the same Lord, worships the same God, and is filled with one Spirit, the Holy Spirit that comes from the One True God we worship! He uses the foot, the hand, the ear, the eyes, and the nose to prove his point. What’s his point? That each body part is necessary for the body to function properly. If a foot is missing, it’s harder to walk; if an hand is missing, it’s harder to grasp things etc. each person in the body of Christ has been given a gift, or gifts, by the Holy Spirit and it is crucial for them to be present when the church meets to function properly. When one suffers, we all suffer. You have a gift the I do not and vice versa. We need each other, to encourage one another to continue in our walk with Jesus. We work together, not against one another. The body is not divided, like the church at Corinth, but it was designed to work together, to produce nutrients and waste. When Paul was traveling around on his missionary journeys, he met many slaves and masters. He includes them in his letter to the church at Ephesus and he encourages them to work towards unity by being obedient. The key for God to be glorified in our lives, whether slave or free, is unity. If any of you...then...and he gives a solution to each one. He had just said we should be patient waiting for the Lord’s return and now he says while we wait, act like this. One thing James mentions specifically is the sick should call for the elders of the church to pray for them and they will be healed by their prayer in faith because the Lord will heal them! We either believe that or we don’t and the way most churches operate today, we don’t! God hasn’t changed at all so what’s the problem? We are. We want to be in control and as long as we are in control, God cannot work. Luke tells his readers why Jesus gave the crowd this parable, “He told them a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away.” The Jews had already tried to make Jesus a king when he fed the 5,000, the problem was they had wrong expectations. Jesus didn’t come to set up an earthly kingdom, he didn’t come to deliver the Jews from the Roman oppression, his kingdom would be a spiritual one, one that would be in a whole different realm, a different place called heaven.
