<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Hebrews 11 is known as the “Faith” chapter because of all the people who did things by faith but it is way deeper than that. The author has a reason for bringing up all these people who did things by “faith.” They had a hope, they had a promise, they were looking forward to something far greater. They were looking for heaven, to be with God, to have an intimate relationship with Him and to spend eternity with Him. They were willing to put their lives on the line to follow Him. When times got hard, they continued to follow Him and they did not quit for any reason. They endured! Why? Because faith: Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. 2 Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. They couldn’t see it, but they trusted God to come through and He did. He will for us as well if we remain faithful and do not give up!

<itunes:subtitle>Jesus exposes the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and he turns to his disciples and tells the, "Don't be like these guys!" </itunes:subtitle>

<description>Jesus was talking to his disciples as a crowd gathers around them and he begins to teach them to not be like the Pharisees. In chapter 11 Luke gave his version of Matthew 23 where Jesus pronounced the “Woes” on the Pharisees. What he is doing is exposing their hypocrisy. A hypocrite is simple terms is someone pretending to be something they are not. It’s a term that comes from Greek theatre where men played all the roles and they would wear a mask to pretend to be someone or something else. The Pharisees, along with the religious leaders, were pretending to serve God and to love God but in reality they were doing the opposite. They were doing everything for power and prestige, to be seen by those in their community yet they didn’t care for the people in their community at all. They felt as though they were “above” the “sinners”! So Jesus explains to his disciples that their righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees because they will soon be taking over the Kingdom of God and they will be the ones people look to for help and guidance, especially when persecution comes. I’ll challenge you like Jesus challenged his disciples, “Be real!”
