God’s grace gives us time to accept Jesus and live for him, even while people reject Jesus, doing their own thing, every second they live they are given grace because they have breath in their lungs and have the capability to accept Jesus and the sacrifice he made on the cross for our sins. But someday, that grace is going to turn into vengeance when Jesus returns. All of those who rejected Jesus will separated from God for eternity, never having another opportunity to repent of their sins and be washed in the blood of Jesus. Verse 1 says Mary Magdalene went and bought spices to bring to the tomb to put on Jesus' body which tells me she was expecting there to be a body in that tomb. As she and two other women were walking tomb, they were discussing who they could get to roll the stone away so they could get inside to the body. To their surprise, the stone had already been rolled back, the body of Jesus was gone, and there was some dude having a conversation with the, telling them Jesus had risen just as he had told them and that he was waiting for them in Galilee. They left the tomb scared for their lives! They didn't understand until later when Jesus showed up and rebuked them for their disbelief. Jesus Barabbas' name means "Son of the Father" which is ironic when Jesus the Messiah is THE Son of the Father! Jesus Barrabas was a murderer for he had risen up against the Roman government to over throw it but was unsuccessful in his attempt; captured and jailed for killing. Jesus the Messiah was 100% innocent, he has done nothing wrong, and the religious leaders has been hurling accusations at him while Jesus stood before Pilate in silence. There was a custom in that day to release a prisoner so Pilate asked the crowd, "Who should I release?" The crowd yelled, "Release Jesus Barabbas and crucify Jesus the Messiah!" We choose not to believe unless we have something tangible. We don't want fake news, we want it first hand. So Jesus lets Thomas wait eight days before he appeared again.
