<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Jesus continues to use parables to describe what the kingdom of God is like. In this podcast, we discuss the Parable of the Growing Seed and the Mustard Seed. It's all about the seed...or the word of God. The word of God is powerful! It has nothing to do with us! All we are supposed to be concerned with is sowing and watering seed, or spreading the word of God into people's lives so fruit will be produced by God. Are you sowing the seed of the kingdom brother?

<itunes:subtitle>The mustard seed is a small seed and many would consider it insignificant, but when it is planted in the ground it becomes a large tree and birds make their homes in it. It becomes significant.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>Jesus tells the parable of the Mustard Seed. It’s such a small seed and it seems insignificant to many but it actually has many uses. But when planted in the ground, this tiny seed becomes a tall tree, roughly nine feet tall, stands out above everything in the field, and provides a place for birds to build their nests. The kingdom of God seems insignificant to many people and they don’t think anything about it but to many it is everything. Their world is focused, or centered, on Jesus. They allow him to work through them and they grow tall, standing out in order that others may see him; where others can choose to build their nest in him to find rest. We must allow Jesus to work in us so we can stand out, not for selfish reasons, but so others will be attracted to him; So they too, can build a home in him.

<description>Matthew shifts his focus from the religious leaders and Pharisees to some of Jesus’ teachings. He tells us that Jesus used stories called parables. He used things that his listeners would be familiar with such as seed, soil, coins, etc. to teach them a spiritual lesson. Many people today do not read the bible for themselves because they feel as though it is too hard to understand but Jesus said if we would listen to his teachings, God would give understanding. If you’re not reading and studying the word of God for yourself, you are having to take what someone else says and that can be very dangerous! How do you know if you are being deceived or not if you don’t know what the bible says?!?!? Get in the book and start reading!

<description>Jesus gives three parables to the crowd trying to help them visualize what the kingdom of heaven is like. He uses a mustard seed that is a very small seed yet when planted, it grows into a huge tree that birds use to build their nests in. Then he uses yeast. Yeast is a catalyst that makes dough rise. In these two examples it took something that seemed insignificant to many and it became something great and it took someone to work to get it going. In the third example Jesus uses a house with a narrow door. The Master closes the door at some point and locks it leaving people outside the house and they are looking in the windows as they beg for to be let in but it is too late. The Master said he doesn’t know them and they aren’t welcomed in his house and they are turned away forever. We all have a choice to make: to follow Jesus or reject him. What’s your choice?
