When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! They have forgotten the old, sinful man was dead and they are allowing sin to be in the church. Paul keeps naming some of the sin they are contending with and in this particular instance, they are boasting about a sexual sin that is happening within the church between a man, his wife, and his son. It’s not just a one time thing, but a many time thing! Paul reminds them they are the Temple of the living God, that He dwells inside them through the Holy Spirit! How can they continue to live in sin when they should be led by the Spirit of God who they carry into their sin?!?!? Sin is serious and is not a toy to be played with! We are to repent of our sin, which means turn away from it, and we must die to sin (Romans 6). When we give our lives to Christ, the old man is buried and we come out of that water a new creation, filled with he Holy Spirit. He begins to transform our lives into he image of Christ...if we let him. God’s grace gives us time to accept Jesus and live for him, even while people reject Jesus, doing their own thing, every second they live they are given grace because they have breath in their lungs and have the capability to accept Jesus and the sacrifice he made on the cross for our sins. But someday, that grace is going to turn into vengeance when Jesus returns. All of those who rejected Jesus will separated from God for eternity, never having another opportunity to repent of their sins and be washed in the blood of Jesus. But we don't have to and we strive not to! Paul says we are to not yield our bodies as instruments of sin but righteousness. We actually have a choice! Sin is born out of temptations that come from a desire within ourselves. We can stop it dead in its tracks but far too often we choose to carry the temptation out and sin. We use our body as an instrument to sin instead of righteousness. In fact, Paul says we are a slave to whichever we choose! So choose to do what is right!
