When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! This time, there is a man with a withered hand there and the Pharisees are waiting and watching to see what Jesus is going to do about it. Of course he heals the man and the Pharisees begin to plot on how they can kill Jesus. They follow him around accusing him of being possessed by Satan. We expect the hatred coming from the religious leaders but did you know Jesus’ own family were haters too?!?!? He had four brothers and at least two sisters and Mark tells us they did not believe him and thought he was insane! What do you say? The demon acknowledges Jesus and calls him the Holy One of God. Jesus immediately shuts the demon up and casts him out of the man right there in front of the crowd. They are amazed, not only at Jesus’ teaching because he is teaching with authority and not as the teachers of the law, but they are amazed at his authority over the demons! Ig Jesus didn’t have their attention before, he has it now! Spoiler alert...He wins... 32:02 no Have you ever watched a fight in a western movie? They pick a time and place for the “Showdown” and people come to watch who will have the fastest draw and win. This is what we see happening in Matthew 12 between the Pharisees and Jesus. The Pharisees have the fastest draw but Jesus wins the fight…every time! Evidently the Pharisees have some spies on Jesus and his disciples because they see them picking grain in a field and they watch them eat it right there in the field. They quickly pounce on the opportunity to condemn them and Jesus sets them straight by using an example they’d be very familiar with and it comes from a man they very much respected…King David. Then Jesus goes on their turf, the synagogue, and heals a man with a deformed hand and it sends them over the edge! It's basically an expression of doubt. We feel like we can say anything we want about a person as long as we say, "Bless your heart..." Jesus get's the "Bless his heart" experience in his hometown. Jesus goes to the synagogue in his hometown of Nazareth to worship and was given a scroll to read. He opens the scroll and reads Isaiah 61:1-2. He tells the people that today this prophecy has been fulfilled before their very eyes. This is people who have seen him grow up as a child, friends and family that he has went to the synagogue with for thirty years to worship. Their immediate response is, "Isn't this Joseph's son?" In other words, "Bless his heart." They don't get it, they don't understand, they don't see that Jesus is God in the flesh, the very Messiah they had been taught about that is coming to redeem them. In fact, they try to kill him by forcing him to the edge of a cliff and wanted to push him off! When you have a vision, a dream, a passion and you share it with others, don't be discouraged if they don't share the same excitement that you have. They simply don't get it but don't let that hold you back from doing God's will that He has placed on your heart!
