Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

Paul mentions to the church in Corinth that they are holy because they have called on the name of the Lord. Not only them, but people outside of Corinth, both Jew and Gentile. What does it mean to “Call on the name of the Lord”? Does that mean we can just call on Jesus and be saved? What about baptism? Is baptism necessary for salvation? Should I get baptized? We take a deep dive into these two very important questions and we aren’t regurgitating someone else’s teaching. We will bring you truth straight from the word of God because THAT is what matters!

Paul tells Titus who to teach and what to teach. He tells him to teach the older men to do certain things and live a certain way. He tells him to teach women the same thing...why? So they can take what they learn and pass it on to the younger men and women. They are to lead by example! When you break down the Greek, it is some very challenging thoughts, especially for the men because Titus is in Crete to appoint elders, leaders in the church so he will be examining the lives of the older men to see if they are living for Jesus, righteous and holy!

2 Timothy 3 is basically Paul warning Timothy to stay away from teachers who don’t teach truth. Paul left Timothy in Ephesus to correct false teachers who have come in wreaking havoc in the church there. They have taught doctrines that sound truthful but when someone falls for it, they realize they have been deceived and they are left picking up the pieces from the destruction. Paul tells Timothy the word of God, (he is referring to the Old Testament) is God breathed and will teach people the truth and how to live a life pleasing to God. Paul tells Timothy he must remain faithful to what he has been taught. That’s some great advice for us today!

We are tackling one of the most difficult passages in the Bible that comes from 1 Timothy 2 about women keeping silent and not being able to teach a man. It has been a hot topic and debated for centuries! What does Paul say? What does he mean by what he says? Is there a contradiction here? Does Paul contradict his very own thoughts? We’re going to dissect it and give our input in this podcast. This is part 2.

People today online who have a following online are called “Influencers.” They have posted some kind of video, pictures, music, etc online and it has gone viral. They pick up followers who “Like” their content and these followers sometimes send money to support the “Influencer” and they are getting rich! Even if people don’t send money, they tell others about the content they watch and how others can see it too. What are these “Influencers” doing? What are they teaching? Is it Jesus? More than likely, the answer is no. Paul says we should follow his example because he leads people to Jesus. Can you say that?

Traditions...something the Pharisees had major problems with. They had studied God's law, interpreted God's law, and made their interpretations more binding than God's law! They had become traditions over the years and they were teaching them to the people in the synagogue instead of teaching the people about God and His law. Jesus gets to the "heart" of the mater...the Pharisee's hearts. They looked like they loved God, sounded like they loved God, but Jesus quotes Isaiah and says their hearts are far from God. Don't let your worship become tradition. Keep your heart in it and seeking after God!

As Jesus gathers with his disciples on the Mount of Olives in Galilee, he gives them one last charge before he ascends into heaven. He let’s them know that he has all authority in heaven and on earth, and because he does, they should go make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. After they make those disciples, they should teach them to obey his commandments and as they go make these disciples, Jesus promises them that he will be with them and will they ever need that promise! They will be persecuted in the days to come and he won’t physically be there for them. They will have to trust in his promises and his word. And if you think about it…so should we!

How often do you pray? Every day? Once in a while? Only when trouble comes your way? When you are desperate? Jesus was constantly going off alone to spend some time with the Father in prayer. Prayer is how we communicate with God, it’s us having a conversation with Him. The disciples have watched Jesus do this for so long and they noticed there’s something special about the time Jesus spends with the Father so they came to him and said, “Teach us how to pray…” Prayer is critical in our daily walk with God and if we aren’t praying, our relationship is suffering just like our earthly relationships do between souses, friends, and loved ones. If there isn’t much communication, then the relationship is weak and it dwindles away. If there is strong communication, then the relationship is strong. God wants a strong relationship with you and me and He is waiting to have a conversation so start talking! And as you talk, just like in any good conversation, you have to listen! Jesus tells his disciples how they should pray to the Father and we can do the same today…

Peter was acquainted with Jesus. He had met him in the synagogue when Jesus visited Capernaum and had taught there. After casting out the demon that day Jesus with home with Peter and stayed at his house for a while. Jesus even healed Peter’s mother-in-law of a fever. People were bringing their sick friends and family to Peter’s house in hopes that Jesus would heal them. Jesus leaves Peter’s house and travels around Judea telling people about the kingdom of God but on this particular day Jesus chose to teach on the shore of the Sea of Galilee where Peter was washing his nets from fishing the night before. Jesus uses Peter’s boat to teach the people and after he finishes his teaching he asks Peter to launch out into the deep. He then tells him to cast his nets once again but Peter was reluctant because he had fished all night, didn’t catch anything, and he had already cleaned his nets. But he didn’t want to be disrespectful to Jesus so he cast his nets into the water. The rest is history. Do you ever feel lost in the crowd? God knows you, He knows everything about you, and God has a purpose for you. The question is, will you like Peter, be obedient and allow Him into your life?

God used Peter and John to heal the lame man and a crowd gathers to see what had happened. Peter takes the opportunity to preach Jesus to them and many believed. However, as they were preaching the religious leaders show p with some temple guards and arrest Peter and John. The next day they are called in for questioning and the religious leaders try to intimidate them but since they were filled with the Holy Spirit, they were confident and were bold. They told the religious leaders that they had crucified Jesus but God raised him back to life and made him the Cornerstone. The religious leaders tried to use their power and shut the apostles up by telling them they cannot preach or teach in the name of Jesus any more which is why I titled this episode, "Shut Your Face!" The apostles continued to share Jesus with anyone who was willing to listen. They said they would rather obey God. And listen to what the religious leaders had to say about these two men, "They realized they had been with Jesus..." Can people tell you have been with Jesus?!?!?!
