<description>Let's face it...life sometimes is hard and can just suck. When we are faced with life's challenges we can be discouraged, get tired, and become weary. What we need is motivation, encouragement, and a helping hand that keeps us going. That's the idea of GRINDIT! We find our strength to endure when we focus on Jesus. God's own Son wasn't exempt from life's challenges and He didn't do anything to deserve what he went through! And yet He did...willingly, therefore we find our hope in Him.

<description>Paul leaves Timothy behind in Ephesus to help a struggling church get back on track. One of the many issues is widows. Who is supposed to be taking care of the widows and what constitutes a widow that can be helped? Are their stipulations? What does Paul have to say about the younger widows? What about the widow who decides she isn’t going to be devoted to God and just wants to liver her life the way she sees fit? We dive into all of this and more in this podcast!

<description>In today’s podcast, we start to cover 1 Timothy 5 where Paul is writing Timothy to give him instructions for the church in Ephesus. In chapter 5, Paul deals with widows and how they are to be taken care of. Is it the church’s responsibility to take care of widows? We go back to the Old Testament and see what God had to say about widows back then and the laws He gave to the people through Moses and some examples of how God used widows to usher in the Messiah!

<description>The religious leaders thought they were bold and courageous but as we see Jesus march into Jerusalem and expose them for who they really are, cowards, the one who is actually bold and courageous shows out, Jesus. He has went to the Temple, cleansed it out by overturning the money tables and driving the people out that was selling the animals for sacrifices for profit, and now he tells a story about an owner of a vineyard who sent servants in to gather some of the crops and money but the hired tenants killed them, including the owner’s son! Jesus was talking about them and they knew it and they wanted to kill him but they feared the crowd. Jesus challenges the Pharisees and the Sadducees in chapter 12, then uses a widow lady that threw 2 coins in the offering plate to show what the heart of God really looks like!

<description>Jesus and his disciples are going to the Temple on a daily basis to teach. One day they are there and the religious leaders are walking by dropping in a lot of money into the offering plate. The sounds that come ringing forth gets everyone's attention, which is what they were wanting because they loved attention. In fact, the disciples are i awe of what is going on and they marveled at how much the religious leaders were giving. Then there's this poor widow that comes walking up to the offering plate and drops in her two coins. "What good is that compared to all of the money the religious leaders put in?" they may be wondering. Jesus points her out to them and says, "Fellas, she just gave more than all of those religious leaders." Scratching their heads trying to make sense of what Jesus said, he explains, "They gave from their surplus. She gave God all that she had." She put her total faith, her trust in God unlike the religious leaders. Do we?

<description>Jesus talks to his disciples about prayer so he uses a story about a widow who wanted justice toward her enemy and an judge who didn’t fear God nor does he care anything about people. He keeps refusing to listen to the widow but she is persistent. Instead of giving up, she continues to nag the judge until finally he gives in and she gets justice. Jesus said the judge finally gave in because the widow was getting on his nerves. Then Jesus tells his disciples that God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night. He asks, “Will he keep putting them off?” Then he answers, “I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly!” Though it may not always seem like it, God knows what we are going through, and it may seem like He doesn’t care or He is nowhere around, but He is right by our side the whole time. Nothing catches God by surprise and He knows every tear that falls from our eyes. And if we are persistent like this widow and continue to ask God for help, He will come through in His time.

<itunes:subtitle>God has the ability to save us or condemn us yet many people don’t even consider God and His will for our lives. Do you fear God?</itunes:subtitle>

<description>God is a God of perfect timing and a great example of this is Jesus arriving in the village called Nain just as a widow was leaving town to bury her only son. Jesus stops the funeral and raises the kid back to life! Luke says, “Great fear swept the crowd…” In my opinion, we have lost our “fear” of God. It is evident just by turning on the news or looking on your social media feed. So much evil taking place everywhere and it seems as if the person who did the evil shows no remorse whatsoever and sometimes even tries to justify their actions. God has the ability to save us or condemn us yet many people don’t even consider God and His will for our lives. Any decision, I repeat, any decision we make should revolve around God and what He would want us to do! What about you? Do you fear God? Are your decisions made around Him or do you just do what you want not really caring about the consequences?
